Students will begin with a look at OSHA and it’s role in regulating safety. There are individual study areas on general safety and health provisions, electrical safety and fall protection. The student will also learn about personal protective equipment (PPE) and lifesaving equipment. The student will also receive overviews on material handling, power tools, scaffolds, cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators, conveyors, and stairways and ladders.
Please note that the OSHA 10 Hour Construction Outreach Training course is NOT equivalent to the OSHA 510 or 511 courses and will not meet the course prerequisites to take the OSHA 500 or 501 courses.
The OSHA 10 Hour Construction Outreach Training course can be completed in as little as two days, based on OSHA’s requirement of a maximum of 7.5 hours per day. However, the student has up to 90 days to complete the coursework in order to fit the course work into their schedule. Upon passing the final exam, the student will be awarded 10 hours of IACET CEUs.
The OSHA 10 Hour Construction Outreach Training course is presented online by an OSHA-certified instructor. The 10 hour class is broken down into bite-sized sections, each covering a different topic. After each section there will be a quiz. You must pass the quiz at the end of each section proceeding to the next section. After all the material has been presented, you will take a final exam. In order to receive credit for the course and get your interim card, you must pass that exam at a 70% level or above.You can take the test three times if need be. Once you’ve passed that final, you can print your temporary Wallet Card, while the official card is being processed by the Department of Labor.
