The OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course is designed to teach introductory level content pertinent to safety  and hazard recognition. The course is meant to follow the standards set forth in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.  The training is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in a non-construction industry such as manufacturing, distribution, health care, retailing, schools, universities or similar industries.

All industries are called upon to adopt proper health and safety practices. The OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course provides  substantial safety-related information that includes the general areas of  hazard recognition,  avoidance, abatement and prevention. The student will learn about OSHA, its role in safety and its various regulations. Complementary, they learn about their own employer responsibilities, and worker rights. OSHA recommends Outreach Training Program courses as an introduction  to occupational safety and health for workers.  The OSHA 10 Hour General Industry training is ideal for those individuals that work in non-Construction jobs, but still have an everyday responsibility for plant/workplace safety. Note that  some workers may need to  receive additional site specific training where required by OSHA standards.

Please also note that the OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course is NOT equivalent to the OSHA 510 or 511 courses and will not meet the course prerequisites to take the OSHA 500 or 501 courses.

Credit Hours given for the OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training

OSHA regulations require online students to limit their coursework to 7.5 hours per day. The OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course , therefore, takes at least two days to complete. To fit in with your work and personal time, the course stays open to you for up to three (3) months. The course records 10 hours of IACET CEUs once the final exam is passed.

The OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course is lead by an OSHA-certified instructor online and consists of several sections.  As a bonus for signing up, you can download the  FREE study guide, which allows you to take notes and follow along through each section. After you complete each section,  a section quiz must be taken and passed in order to start the next section of study.  At the end of the course, you will be given a final exam over all the material that has been presented in the course. In order to gain credit from the class and obtain your OSHA Wallet Card, you must score a 70% or better on the final. At that time, you’ll be able to print out your interim card, and your certification of completion. You can try up to three times to pass the final.  After your successful conclusion, you’ll receive your DOL OSHA Wallet Card within two weeks from the Department of Labor.
