This usually points to safety directors, foremen, and field supervisors. However, the training is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in a non-construction industry such as manufacturing, distribution, retailing, schools, universities or similar industries.

OSHA has established standards for general industry through their 29 CFR 1910 publication. All industries are called upon to adopt proper health and safety practices. The OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course provides  substantial safety-related information that includes the general areas of  hazard recognition,  avoidance, abatement and prevention. This includes general safety and health hazards in the workplace. Safety officers or leaders learn about OSHA and its role in establishing safety guidelines.  The student will be taught about his/her employer responsibilities under the OSH law.  Worker’s rights under the law are also discussed.

OSHA has set forth recommendations that include the  Outreach Training Programs as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers.  The Outreach Training must be supplemented if specific hazards are involved or when OSHA standards dictate.

Please note that the OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course is NOT equivalent to the OSHA 510 or 511 courses and will not meet the course prerequisites to take the OSHA 500 or 501 courses.

Credit Hours given for the OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Outreach Training

The OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Outreach Training course can be completed in as little as four days under the OSHA guidelines of 7.5 hours per day. However, you have up to six (6) months to complete the coursework if necessary. Upon passing the final exam, the student will be awarded 30 hours of IACET CEUs.
